Agricole Hurricane expected at Tales of the Cocktail 2014

For the 2014 Cocktail Competition, Tales of the Cocktail got back to its New Orleans roots by celebrating one of the city’s most renowned cocktails: The Hurricane. A legend of the French Quarter since the 1940s, the Hurricane has become a classic worldwide cocktail. Bartenders were challenged to pay homage to this classic cocktail by creating their own version.
The original recipe was created by Pat O’Brien in 1956 and had the following ingredients: 4 ounces of gold rum, the juice of 2 lemons, and 2 ounces of “Fassionola,” a brand of bottled red passion fruit mix.

Rhum Clement and Rhum JM, famous and renowned agricole rhums from Martinique has been used by many competitors and…by the winner!
The Hurricane Caesar created by Joe Cammarata from Backbar in Somerville, Massachusetts has been elected by Tales of the Cocktail® and Mutineer Magazine as the Official Cocktail of Tales of the Cocktail.

Here is Cammarata’s Hurricane Caesar recipe followed by all the recipes submitted featuring JM and Clement:
